Who are the Evenks?


Hey people we are Sara, Karim, Chrissi, Chris and Sercan from the Atrium, a culture centre for kids and youths  in Berlin-Reinickendorf! You've probably never heard of the Evenks , they are the Indigeonous people of Siberia, North Russia ,and part of the hugh Asian expanse of Russia.
We were able to speak by skype to Sascha and Tanja(12yrs) from Lesosibirsk.They are not Evenks, but they know people who are and they are familiar with their culture.

Lesosibirsk lies deep in the heart of Siberia,  about 1000 Kilometer from Irkutsk and lake Baikal (which is the largest fresh water lake in the world) - have you heard of the book The Courier of the Csar by Jules Verne ? The lead character Michael Strogoff's destination is Irkutsk. Sascha and Tanja were able to tell us alot of interesting things about the Evenks,Their needs, their diet, and their lifestyle.
